The ARK Crew is proud to announce the launch of the official ARK Desktop Lite Wallet and all relevant source code, available now on github . The ARK Desktop Lite Wallet will function as the official wallet for accessing the ARK network. Native applications are currently available for download to your Mac, Linux, or Windows PC.
This version is considered an initial Pre-Alpha release of the software and may contain bugs and or exhibit unexpected behavior.
The release of our desktop client marks another major milestone in the ARK development cycle and brings one more piece of our greater ecosystem to the open source community. You can now fully review both our entire ARK Core source code and our Desktop Lite Wallet on github.
The ARK Crew will be announcing official bug and developer focused bounties after the upcoming launch of the ARK Testnet. To keep up to date on available bounties, visit the Bounty Contests board at the official ARK Forums. In the meantime, if you discover a bug in any of our code, please post the issue to github and we will take that into consideration.
Introducing The ARK Desktop Lite Wallet
The ARK Desktop Wallet is a native application wallet running on Mac, Linux, and Windows PC’s. We call this release a “lite wallet” because it does not require the user to run a full network node, and instead syncs with a fully functioning peer who is already maintaining the blockchain. This drastically cuts down on update times and allows an instantaneous method of interacting with the network.
The following are just some of the great features present in the Desktop Lite Wallet:
- No wait to sync with the network; simply launch and use
- Auto-connect to a healthy ARK network peer. If the peer’s health degrades, the client will auto-connect to a new peer.
- Register a new account with the network.
- View any account from its address (transactions, delegate status and votes)
- Register your account as a delegate.
- Update delegate voting from directly in the client.
- View delegates statistics including uptime and approval rating.
- Organise your accounts with virtual folders (for instance savings, personal etc…) so you don’t pay any transfer fee
The Desktop Lite Wallet is currently running on an internal developer testnet and will function on a limited basis. Feel free to download today and join us in the ARK Slack and on our Forums with any feedback or bugs. We will post status updates on our closed testnet and any additional information there regularly.
